Charrat is a former municipality in the district of Martigny in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. On 1 January 2021 the former municipality of Charrat merged into the municipality of Martigny. Charrat had an area, , of . Of this area, 45.0% is used for agricultural purposes, while 40.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 12.0% is settled (buildings or roads) and 2.9% is unproductive land. The former municipality is located in the Martigny district, on the left bank of the Rhone. It consists of the villages of Vison and Les Chênes and a development around the train station. Charrat had a population (as of 2019) of 1,913. , 26.3% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (2000–2010 ) the population has changed at a rate of 23.1%. It has changed at a rate of 21.2% due to migration and at a rate of 2.4% due to births and deaths. Most of the population () speaks French (973 or 90.0%) as their first language, Portuguese is the second most common (30 or 2.8%) and Italian is the third (23 or 2.1%). There are 13 people who speak German. the gender distribution of the population was 52.1% male and 47.9% female. The population was made up of 500 Swiss men (36.8% of the population) and 208 (15.3%) non-Swiss men. There were 484 Swiss women (35.6%) and 167 (12.3%) non-Swiss women. Of the population in the municipality 492 or about 45.5% were born in Charrat and lived there in 2000. There were 313 or 29.0% who were born in the same canton, while 78 or 7.2% were born somewhere else in Switzerland, and 174 or 16.1% were born outside of Switzerland. The age distribution of the population () is children and teenagers (0–19 years old) make up 28.2% of the population, while adults (20–64 years old) make up 55.4% and seniors (over 64 years old) make up 16.4%. there were 433 people who were single and never married in the municipality.
