A safer mobility is a key concern for the strategy of the European governments and automotive industries. At the moment, a new generation of Intelligent Integrated Transport Safety Systems (IITSS) offers a promising potential to address this issue. Such co ...
This paper presents a new approach to GPS/INS data acquisition and synchronization for the most popular sensors adopted by the mapping industry for direct-georeferencing; the tactical-grade FOG/silicon-based inertial sensors and generic dual frequency GPS ...
This paper presents a self-contained, light and flexible mapping system that can be quickly deployed into inaccessible areas. Although designed to measure wind-transported snow volumes and the avalanche mass balance over an experimental site, the system is ...
The Geodetic Engineering Laboratory of the EPFL, in collaboration with Dartfish, a specialist in video training software, leads innovative GPS projects within the framework of athlete trajectography. ...
The Geodetic Engineering Laboratory at EPFL has designed a mobile mapping system to determine the geometry of the road: the Photobus. This paper describes major steps that move the Photobus towards a real-time mapping system. ...
This work focuses on the stochastic properties of boresight determination between a strapdown IMU and a frame-based imaging sensor. The core of the stochastic model is a rigorous error propagation of the estimated input accuracies and their correlations. ...
The applications to dynamic sports for an accurate analysis of trajectories represent a new perspective for carrier phase-based GPS positioning. Introduced in competitive skiing, the GPS technique provide all the qualitative data for a complete analysis of ...
In this paper, a GPS-independent mobile navigation and mapping system is introduced. This system employs the photogrammetric intersection to determine the coordinates of the surrounding objects and then it uses these newly known objects to compute its own ...
This paper presents the conceptual and technical aspects of a system in development that precisely determines athlete's trajectory through a course. Carrier phase-based (CP-DGPS) positioning represents core of the system, while tri-acial accelerometer and ...
