This lecture discusses the concept of fluid segregation in chemical reactors, comparing fully segregated fluids with micromixed and completely segregated fluids. It covers the impact of segregation on conversion rates for different reaction orders, as well as the characterization of segregation intensity in turbulent flows. The lecture also explores the kinetics of segregation decay and its effects on reactor performance and selectivity in consecutive-competitive reactions.
