This lecture covers the principles and examples of Polyjet technology, comparing it with SLA. Polyjet technology builds 3D parts layer by layer using a photoresist selectively deposited by an array of nozzles. The resin is consolidated by UV curing, with the intelligence of the process managed by the nozzles. The recent development of Polyjet technology is attributed to new nozzle technology for handling high viscosity fluids. The lecture also discusses the consolidation mechanism, equipment block diagram, mechanical properties of parts, and characteristics of the jetted photopolymer process. The process involves delivering two different materials (construction and support) using nozzles. The lecture concludes by mentioning that the Polyjet process was developed by an Israeli company 15 years ago and is now commercialized by Stratasys in the USA.
