This lecture introduces Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their role in managing wildfires in the Sahel region. It covers the causes and consequences of wildfires, the mission to monitor and prevent them, the methodology involving satellite imagery and GPS tracking, and the analysis and reporting of wildfire data. The lecture also discusses the use of GIS in providing decision support for environmental management.
