This lecture provides a general introduction to magnetic spin, starting with magnetic effects in everyday life and properties of elementary particles. It covers the statistics of fermions and bosons, the Dirac equation, and the definition of an elementary magnetic dipole. Quantum effects, Pauli matrices, and a simple spin Hamiltonian are also discussed.
