This lecture covers the interaction of radiation with matter, including radiation types, radioactive sources, and the interaction of charged particles with matter. Topics include radiation detection, radioactive decay, alpha and beta decay, units of measurement, ionization, excitation, deexcitation, and processes related to collisions. The lecture also discusses neutron emission, Bragg curve and peak, stopping power of heavy charged particles, and the Bethe formula. Various types of radiation such as gamma decay, electron capture, Cherenkov radiation, and Bremsstrahlung are explained, along with concepts like internal conversion, Auger electron emission, and luminescence.
