This lecture explores the impact of private voluntary standards, such as the Fair Trade label and the Forest Stewardship Council label, on improving sustainability in forestry and agriculture globally. It delves into how similar standards can enhance sustainability and resilience in infrastructure, featuring insights from representatives in China on the importance of incorporating sustainable and resilient factors into infrastructure design, construction, and maintenance. The SuRe Standard is highlighted as a valuable tool in achieving sustainable development goals, with examples of its benefits in identifying project weaknesses, mitigating climate change impacts, and aligning with national and international sustainability objectives.
