This lecture provides a tour of the electroacoustic facilities, including a reverberation chamber enhancing sound reflections and an anechoic chamber absorbing sound. The instructor explains how controlling reverberation impacts speech intelligibility and music production, demonstrates special sound rendering, and showcases equipment for measuring noise sources. The one-meter thick walls in the anechoic chamber enhance sound absorption, allowing for precise measurements above 80 hertz. The setup of the walls acts as traps to absorb sound in the low frequency range, aiding in assessing directivity. The instructor demonstrates how sound quality changes based on speaker orientation and distance, highlighting the impact of wave propagation in 3D. Interactive demonstrations and additional equipment will be featured throughout the semester.
