This lecture covers the mass-balance principle and air-exchange rate in indoor air quality and ventilation. It explains the solution of mass balance equations, focusing on input and output variables. The steady-state conditions and derivation of mass balance equations with outdoor air pollution are discussed. The limitations of the well-mixed assumption in estimating occupant exposure are also highlighted.
