This lecture covers the thermodynamic description of partitioning, the concept of Kow for hydrophobic compounds, and the prediction of compound partitioning into nonpolar liquids and solids. It also discusses the estimation of Kow from aqueous solubility and vapor pressure, as well as the influence of temperature and salinity on partitioning constants.
