This lecture explores the design and construction of a contemporary staircase at Versailles, which serves as a link between different architectural periods, allowing visitors to access the gardens. The staircase, featuring a glass prism railing, brings natural light into the underground space, transforming it into an extension of the castle. Through this innovative intervention, the historical heritage is preserved while expanding the services available to visitors, enhancing their experience and interaction with the site. The concept of Groundscape is highlighted as a delicate yet impactful approach to architectural interventions, ensuring the protection and adaptation of landscapes, heritage, and monuments for modern needs and future possibilities.
