This lecture introduces the layout of the Thimble interface, with three columns: one for files, one for HTML code editing, and one for real-time page preview. The existing code structure is explained, highlighting the HTML opening and closing tags, as well as the Head and Body sections. Modifications made in the Body section reflect instantly in the preview, allowing for real-time customization of the webpage.
