Co-founder of Octanis in 2014 with the goal of building an open-source Rover for Antarctica. The non-profit grew to a diverse community of makers and in 2018 spun off its sister company, Octanis Instruments, which is helping startups to design and engineer IoT products. Raffael is also a coach of the China Hardware Innovation Camp, a program immersing students from Western Switzerland into the Shenzhen/Hongkong hardware ecosystem.
