Abstract

Dans le cadre d’un atelier ayant pour objet «Les conséquences des mélanges chimiques sur l’environnement et l’homme et leur évaluation » mené en 2010, les participants des domaines scientifiques, officiels et industriels ont demandé aux experts de développer des recommandations applicables en pratique pour l’évaluation de la toxicité des mélanges. Au cours des dernières années, nombre de ces recommandations ont été réalisées. Diverses organisations et des scientifiques individuels ont développé plusieurs approches généralistes permettant la prise en compte de la toxicité des mélanges selon différentes réglementations lors de l’évaluation des risques. Des méthodes ont également été publiées taillées sur mesure sur les réglementations choisies. Seules quelques approches seront présentées ici concernant l’intégration de la toxicité des mélanges dans l’évaluation de la qualité des eaux de surface. À cet usage, une approche généraliste est simplifiée et complétée pour l’évaluation de la qualité de l’eau. Une partie essentielle de ce complément réside dans la prise en compte des résultats d’essais in vitro. Puis, un échantillon réel d’eaux usées permet d’illustrer une telle évaluation de la toxicité des mélanges. Elle tendrait à prouver que la prise en compte commune des analyses chimiques et biologiques permettrait d’obtenir une meilleure évaluation des risques concernant les mélanges.
