The Lausanne Centre for Ultrafast Science (LACUS) at EPFL is a research center focused on femtosecond laser technology and advanced spectroscopies. LACUS provides user access to cutting-edge ultrafast laser, X-ray, and electron technologies for researchers to conduct experiments and develop new technologies. The research core of LACUS involves studying light-matter interactions on a femtosecond time scale using various spectroscopy methods, such as photoelectron spectroscopy, ultrafast electron diffraction, and transmission microscopy. The center aims to enable interdisciplinary research collaborations in ultrafast science and technology, addressing fundamental and practical challenges in materials science, chemistry, and biology.
