The Security and Cryptography Laboratory (LASEC) at EPFL, established in 2000, focuses on research and education in communication and information systems security, cryptography, and applications. LASEC conducts studies on cryptographic analysis, lightweight cryptography, secure communication, wireless security, and distance bounding protocols. The laboratory has developed various cryptographic algorithms and protocols, including the FOX block cipher and the ARMADILLO multi-purpose symmetric primitive. Additionally, LASEC is actively involved in analyzing RFID protocols, distance bounding protocols, and the security of biometric passports. The laboratory offers courses on basic and advanced cryptography, covering topics such as symmetric encryption, public-key cryptography, digital signatures, and trust establishment.
