The Laboratory of Microbial Physiology and Resource Biorecuperation (MICROBE) at EPFL focuses on studying the physiology of microbes to understand the fundamental principles of microbial processes. Their research aims to optimize the use of microbes for energy production, environmental cleanup, and enhancing human health. Ongoing projects include developing microbial CO2 reduction processes for producing synthetic natural gas and other valuable products, as well as investigating complex microbial community functions to guide microbiome engineering for resource recovery.
