The Group for Ferroelectrics and Functional Oxides at EPFL focuses on the research and education of fundamental properties and applications of ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and multifunctional materials. They investigate physical processes at various scales, studying the effects of defects on material properties, domain walls, symmetry breaking, and interface dynamics. Their work includes developing new materials for sensors, actuators, and transducers, with a particular interest in medical applications.
