Chair of Statistical Data Science

The Chair of Statistical Data Science at EPFL, led by Professor Sofia Olhede, focuses on analyzing large volumes of data, particularly temporal, spatial, and relational data. The group has developed methods for oceanographic, geophysical, and ecological data analysis, as well as data governance and ethics. Prof. Olhede's research includes stochastic processes, time series, random fields, and networks. She played a key role in establishing the UK national data science institute, the Alan Turing Institute, and has been involved in various data governance and machine learning initiatives.
