Vincent Kaufmann

Vincent Kaufmann is associate professor of urban sociology and mobility at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Since 2011, he is also scientific director of the Mobile Lives Forum in Paris. After a master degree in sociology (Universtiy of Geneva) he did his Ph.D. at EPFL on rationalities underlying transport modal practices. Vincent Kaufmann has been invited lecturer at Lancaster University (2000-2001), Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris (2001-2002), Laval University, Québec (2008) Nimegen University (2010), Université de Toulouse Le Mirail (2011), Université Catholique de Louvain (2004-2018) and Tongji University in Shanghai (2018). There fields of research are: motility, mobility and urban life styles, links between social and spatial mobility, public policies of land planning and transportation. He recently published “Mobilité et libre circulation en Europe” (with Ander Audikana) Economica (2017).

Yves Perriard

Yves Perriard was born in Lausanne in 1965. He received the M. Sc. in Microengineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology - Lausanne (EPFL) in 1989 and the Ph D. degree in 1992. Co-founder of Micro-Beam SA, he was CEO of this company involved in high precision electric drive. Senior lecturer from 1998 and professor since 2003, he is currently director of Laboratory of Integrated Actuators. His research interests are in the field of new actuator design and associated electronic devices. In 2009, he is appointed Vice-Director of the Microengineering Institute in Neuchâtel until 2011. In 2013 the Federal Council has named him the the CTI commission in Bern. In 2014 he is appointed guest professor at Zhejiang University in China. In 2017, the lab is granted by the Werner Siemens Foundation of an amount of 12 millions CHF in order to set up a new Center for Artificial Muscules. REMY GLARDON is Professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne. He is the founder and director of the Laboratory for Production Management and Processes. He owns a Master in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Materials Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne. After his graduate study at EPFL, he spent several years as a postdoc at UC-Berkeley where he published several research papers on the mechanical behavior and wear of materials. He then moved to industry and occupied several management positions in production, logistics and operations management. Before joining EPFL in Sept. 1995 to found the Laboratory for Production Management & Processes, he was Operations Manager and member of the board of an international high tech. company. His main research interests are currently related to the design, configuration and strategic, tactical & operational management of value adding networks. His research activities concern more specifically, the integration of human aspects in the modeling & simulation of these complex systems. Rémy Glardon has initiated and completed several research and consulting projects with private companies in these areas, aiming at improving the cost/performance ratio in operations management. He is also co-founder of two start-up consulting enterprises in the field of supply chain and operations management.
