DimapurDimapur (diməˈpʊər) is the largest city and municipality in the Indian state of Nagaland. As of 2011, the municipality had a population of 122,834. The city is the main gateway and commercial centre of Nagaland. Located near the border with Assam along the banks of the Dhansiri River. Its main railway station is the second busiest station in Northeast India. The name Dimapur is derived from the Dimasa words; Di means "water", ma means "large" and pur means "city", translating to Big-river-city, associated with the meaning of "Kachari" which is "people of the river valley" and after the river which flows through it (Dhansiri).
ImphalImphal (im.phal; UK'Imf@l, US'ɪmpˌhʌl) is the capital city of the Indian state of Manipur. It is the second largest city in Northeast India. The metropolitan centre of the city contains the ruins of Kangla Palace (officially known as Kangla Fort), the royal seat of the former Kingdom of Manipur, surrounded by a moat. Spread over parts of the districts of Imphal West and Imphal East, the former contains the majority of the city's area and population. Imphal is part of the Smart Cities Mission under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Ledo RoadThe Ledo Road (လီဒိုလမ်းမ) (from Ledo, Assam, India to Kunming, Yunnan, China) was an overland connection between India and China, built during World War II to enable the Western Allies to deliver supplies to China and aid the war effort against Japan. After the Japanese cut off the Burma Road in 1942 an alternative was required, hence the construction of the Ledo Road. It was renamed the Stilwell Road, after General Joseph Stilwell of the U.S. Army, in early 1945 at the suggestion of Chiang Kai-shek.
