British RajThe British Raj (rɑːdʒ ; from Hindi , 'kingdom', 'realm', 'state', or 'empire') was the rule of the British Crown on the Indian subcontinent; it is also called Crown rule in India, or Direct rule in India, and lasted from 1858 to 1947. The Indian Rebellion of 1857 led to the British Crown assuming direct control of India from the East India Company in the form of the new British Raj through the Government of India Act 1858.

The hinterland east of the coast has numerous river valleys and riverine islands among the hilly slopes leading up into the tablelands of the Deccan. Central Provinces and BerarThe Central Provinces and Berar was a province of British India and later the Dominion of India which existed from 1903 to 1950. It was formed by the merger of the Central Provinces with the province of Berar, which was territory leased by the British from the Hyderabad State. Through an agreement signed on 5 November 1902, 6th Nizam Mahbub Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VI leased Berar permanently to the British for an annual payment of 25 lakhs rupees. Lord Curzon decided to merge Berar with the Central Provinces, and this was proclaimed on 17 September 1903.

BharuchBharuch (), known in ancient times as Bharutkutccha, is a city at the mouth of the river Narmada in Gujarat in western India. Bharuch is the administrative headquarters of Bharuch District. The city of Bharuch and surroundings have been settled since times of antiquity. It was a ship building centre and sea port in the pre-compass coastal trading routes to points West and East, perhaps as far back as the 1st Century CE. The route made use of the regular and predictable monsoon winds or galleys.
NashikNashik (ˈnɑːʃɪk), Marathi: [naːʃik], formerly Nasik ), is a city in the northern region of the Indian state of Maharashtra. Situated on the banks of the river Godavari, Nashik is the fourth largest city in Maharashtra after Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. The population of Nashik city is around 22 lakhs and is emerging as one of the fastest-growing cities in India. Nashik is located about 165 km northeast of the state capital Mumbai, and about 210 km north from Pune. The Mumbai-Pune-Nashik region is called the "Golden Triangle of Maharashtra".
