As of July 1, 2018, the population estimate for the town from the U.S. Census was 5,655. It is the first town encountered in Texas when traveling southbound on Interstate 10 from New Mexico. Anthony was laid out c. 1881, when the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway was extended to that point. Anthony is located at (31.994626, –106.597612).
