Ossett forms part of the Heavy Woollen District. The name Ossett derives from the Old English and is thought to be either "the fold of a man named Osla" or " a fold frequented by blackbirds". Ossett is sometimes misspelled as "Osset".
SelbySelby is a market town and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, south of York on the River Ouse. In the 2021 UK Census it had a population recorded at 19,760. The town was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974. From 1974 to 2023 the town was the administrative centre of the Selby District. Selby once had a large shipbuilding industry and was an important port on the Selby Canal, which brought trade from Leeds. The town's origins date from the establishment of a Viking settlement on the banks of the River Ouse.
Leeds Bradford AirportLeeds Bradford Airport is located in Yeadon, in the City of Leeds Metropolitan District in West Yorkshire, England, about northwest of Leeds city centre, and about northeast from Bradford city centre. It serves Leeds and Bradford and the wider Yorkshire region including York, Wakefield and Harrogate, and is the largest airport in Yorkshire. The airport was in public ownership until May 2007, when it was bought by Bridgepoint Capital for £145.5 million. Bridgepoint sold it in 2017 to AMP Capital.
