Cities of the PhilippinesA city (lungsod/siyudad) is one of the units of local government in the Philippines. All Philippine cities are chartered cities (nakakartang lungsod), whose existence as corporate and administrative entities is governed by their own specific municipal charters in addition to the Local Government Code of 1991, which specifies their administrative structure and powers. As of July 8, 2023, there are 149 cities. A city is entitled to at least one representative in the House of Representatives if its population reaches 250,000.
Congress of the PhilippinesThe Congress of the Philippines (Kongreso ng Pilipinas) is the legislature of the national government of the Philippines. It is bicameral, composed of a lower body, the House of Representatives, although colloquially the term "Congress" commonly refers to just the latter, and an upper body, the Senate. The House of Representatives meets in the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City while the Senate meets in the GSIS Building in Pasay. The Senate is composed of 24 senators half of which are elected every three years.

The liberation of the Philippines from Japan commenced with amphibious landings on the eastern Philippine island of Leyte on October 20, 1944.
Douglas MacArthurDouglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 5 April 1964) was an American military leader who served as General of the Army for the United States, as well as a field marshal to the Philippine Army. He served with distinction in World War I, was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s, and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. MacArthur was nominated for the Medal of Honor three times, and received it for his service in the Philippines campaign.
ButuanButuan (pronounced ˌbuːtˈwɑːn), officially the City of Butuan (Dakbayan sa Butuan; Butuanon: Dakbayan hong Butuan; Lungsod ng Butuan), is a 1st class highly urbanized city in the region of Caraga, Philippines. It is the de facto capital of the province of Agusan del Norte where it is geographically situated but has an administratively independent government. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 372,910 people. It served as the former capital of the Rajahnate of Butuan before 1001 until about 1521.

According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 100,674 people. The city was the capital of Cavite province from the latter's establishment in 1614 until 1954, when it was transferred to the newly created city of Trece Martires near the center of the province.
