RjukanRjukan (ˈrʉ̀ːkɑn) is a town and the administrative centre of Tinn municipality in Telemark, Norway. It is situated in Vestfjorddalen, between Møsvatn and Lake Tinn, and got its name from the Rjukan Falls west of the town. The Tinn municipality council granted township status for Rjukan in 1996. As of 2022, the town has 3,003 inhabitants. The town was essentially "built from scratch" with industrial developments by Norsk Hydro in the 1910s and 20s. At its peak, Rjukan was a significant industrial center of Telemark.

During the war, the Allies sought to inhibit the German development of nuclear weapons with the removal of heavy water and the destruction of heavy-water production plants.
MøsvatnMøsvatn or Møsvann is a lake in Vinje Municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway. It is the tenth-largest lake in Norway with a surface area of and a volume of . The lake lies just east of the Hardangervidda National Park, in Skien watershed (Skiensvassdrag) catchment area. The lake discharges into the Måna river at a dam located on the Vinje-Tinn municipal border (so a very small part of the lake crosses into Tinn Municipality too). The lake has an irregular shape with three arms.
BuskerudBuskerud (ˈbʉ̂skərʉː) is a former, and future, county and a current electoral district in Norway, bordering Akershus, Oslo, Oppland, Sogn og Fjordane, Hordaland, Telemark and Vestfold. The region extends from the Oslofjord and Drammensfjorden in the southeast to Hardangervidda mountain range in the northwest. The county administration was in modern times located in Drammen. Buskerud was merged with Akershus and Østfold into the newly created Viken County on 1 January 2020.
