Nicolas BourbakiNicolas Bourbaki (nikɔla buʁbaki) is the collective pseudonym of a group of mathematicians, predominantly French alumni of the École normale supérieure (ENS). Founded in 1934–1935, the Bourbaki group originally intended to prepare a new textbook in analysis. Over time the project became much more ambitious, growing into a large series of textbooks published under the Bourbaki name, meant to treat modern pure mathematics. The series is known collectively as the Éléments de mathématique (Elements of Mathematics), the group's central work.
Open mapping theorem (functional analysis)In functional analysis, the open mapping theorem, also known as the Banach–Schauder theorem or the Banach theorem (named after Stefan Banach and Juliusz Schauder), is a fundamental result which states that if a bounded or continuous linear operator between Banach spaces is surjective then it is an open map. This proof uses the , and completeness of both and is essential to the theorem. The statement of the theorem is no longer true if either space is just assumed to be a normed space, but is true if and are taken to be Fréchet spaces.
Particular point topologyIn mathematics, the particular point topology (or included point topology) is a topology where a set is open if it contains a particular point of the topological space. Formally, let X be any non-empty set and p ∈ X. The collection of subsets of X is the particular point topology on X. There are a variety of cases that are individually named: If X has two points, the particular point topology on X is the Sierpiński space. If X is finite (with at least 3 points), the topology on X is called the finite particular point topology.
