YapYap (Waqab, sometimes written as Wa'ab) traditionally refers to an island group located in the Caroline Islands of the western Pacific Ocean, a part of Yap State. The name "Yap" in recent years has come to also refer to the state within the Federated States of Micronesia, inclusive of the Yap Main Islands and its various outer islands, the Yap Neighboring Islands. For specifying the island group, the name Yap Main Islands is most exact. Yap is actually made up of four separate islands: Yap Proper (Marbaaq), Gagil-Tamil, Maap (Maap′), and Rumung.
LamotrekLamotrek is a coral atoll of three islands in the central Caroline Islands in the Pacific Ocean, and forms a legislative district in Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia. The atoll is located approximately east of Elato. The population of Lamotrek was 373 in 2000, living on almost 1 km2. The atoll is long northeast-southeast, and up to wide. Its total land area is only , but it encloses a lagoon of .
WoleaiWoleai, also known as Oleai, is a coral atoll of twenty-two islands in the western Caroline Islands in the Pacific Ocean, and forms a legislative district in the Yap State in the Federated States of Micronesia and is located approximately west-northwest of Ifalik and northeast of Eauripik. Woleai is also the name of the largest of the islets constituting the atoll, lying to the northeast. The population of the atoll was 1,081 in 2000, on an area of 4.5 km2.
