HamadanHamadan or Hamedan (ˌhæməˈdæn , همدان, Hamedān, hæmeˈdɒːn, Old Persian: Haŋgmetana, Ecbatana) is the capital city of Hamadan Province of Iran. At the 2019 census, its population was 783,302 in 230,775 families. Hamedan is believed to be among the oldest Iranian cities. It is possible that it was occupied by the Assyrians in 1100 BCE; the Ancient Greek historian, Herodotus, states that it was the capital of the Medes, around 700 BCE. Hamedan has a green mountainous area in the foothills of the 3,574-meter Alvand Mountain, in the midwest part of Iran.
LursThe Lurs (لر) are an Iranian people living in western Iran. The four Luri branches are the Bakhtiari, Mamasani, Kohgiluyeh and Lur proper, who are principally linked by the Luri language. Lorestan Province is named after the Lurs, but the ethnic group also live in the provinces of Fars, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Khuzestan, Hamadan, Isfahan, Tehran and southern Ilam Province.
MannaeaMannaea (məˈniːə, sometimes written as Mannea; Akkadian: Mannai, Biblical Hebrew: Minni, (מנּי)) was an ancient kingdom located in northwestern Iran, south of Lake Urmia, around the 10th to 7th centuries BC. It neighbored Assyria and Urartu, as well as other small buffer states between the two, such as Musasir and Zikirta. The name of Mannaea and its earliest recorded ruler Udaki were first mentioned in an inscription from the 30th year of the rule of Shalmaneser III (828 BC).
GilaksGilaks (Gileki: گيلکؤن, Gilek'ha) are an Iranian ethnic group native to the south of Caspian sea. They form one of the main ethnic groups residing in the northern parts of Iran. Gilak people, along with the closely related Mazandarani people, comprise part of the Caspian people, who inhabit the southern and southwestern coastal regions of the Caspian Sea. They speak the Gilaki language, an Iranian language that is closely related to Mazandarani. Gilaki people live both alongside the Alborz mountains, and in the surrounding plains.
KashanKashan (Kâšân kɒːˈʃɒːn); Qashan; Cassan; also romanized as Kāshān) is a city in the Central District of Kashan County, in the northern part of Isfahan province, Iran, and serves as both capital of the county and of the district. At the 2006 National Census, its population was 248,789 in 67,464 households. The following census in 2011 counted 275,325 people in 80,015 households. The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 304,487 people in 91,935 households.
