CuicuilcoCuicuilco is an important archaeological site located on the southern shore of Lake Texcoco in the southeastern Valley of Mexico, in what is today the borough of Tlalpan in Mexico City. Some historians believe this settlement goes back to 1400 BC. Other historians believe the pyramid could be the oldest building in the Americas circa 6,500 BC. Cuicuilco flourished during the Mesoamerican Middle and Late Formative (c. 700 BCE – 150 CE) periods.
AridoamericaAridoamerica denotes an ecological region spanning Northern Mexico and the Southwestern United States, defined by the presence of the culturally significant staple foodstuff Phaseolus acutifolius, a drought-resistant bean. Its dry, arid climate and geography stand in contrast to the verdant Mesoamerica of present-day central Mexico into Central America to the south and east, and the higher, milder "island" of Oasisamerica to the north. It is divided into 60 municipalities and the capital city is Tlaxcala City. It is located in east-central Mexico, in the altiplano region, with the eastern portion dominated by the Sierra Madre Oriental.
