In the Russian Empire, it was the capital of the Kaunas Governorate from 1843 to 1915.
MasuriaMasuria (, Masuren, Masurian: Mazurÿ) is a ethnographic and geographic region in northern and northeastern Poland, known for its 2,000 lakes.
