Armistice of ErzincanThe Armistice of Erzincan (also spelled Erzindzhan or Erzinjan) was an agreement to suspend hostilities during World War I signed by the Ottoman Empire and Transcaucasian Commissariat in Erzincan on 18 December 1917 (5 December O.S.). The armistice brought temporary peace to the Caucasian and Persian Fronts until 12 February, when the fighting was resumed. The status of the Transcaucasian Commissariat was unclear at the time: the Ottomans regarded it as an independent entity, a legal successor of the Russian Empire, while the Commissariat still considered itself a part of the Russian Republic.
Trebizond Peace ConferenceThe Trebizond Peace Conference was a conference held between 14 March and 13 April 1918 in Trebizond between the Ottoman Empire and a delegation of the Transcaucasian Diet (Transcaucasian Seim) and government. The opening session was on 14 March 1918. The representatives were Rear-Admiral Hüseyin Rauf Bey for the Ottoman Empire, and Akaki Chkhenkeli, Khalil bey Khasmammadov, Alexander Khatisian etc. as the Transcaucasian delegation.
MuşMuş (muʃ; Մուշ; Mûş) is a city in eastern Turkey. It is the seat of Muş Province and Muş District. Its population is 120,699 (2022). Its population is mostly Kurds. Various explanations of the origin of Muş's name exist. Its name is sometimes associated with the Armenian word mshush (մշուշ), meaning fog, explained by the fact that the town and the surrounding plain are frequently covered in fog in the mornings.
Battle of AbaranThe Battle of Bash Abaran (Բաշ Աբարանի ճակատամարտ Bash Abarani chakatamart, Baş-Abaran Muharebesi) was a battle of Caucasus Campaign of World War I that took place in the vicinity of Bash Abaran, in 1918. The Armenian victories at Bash Abaran, Sardarabad and Karakilisa, halted the Ottoman invasion of Eastern Armenia and were instrumental in allowing the formation of the short-lived First Republic of Armenia. The Turkish forces attacked on 21 May, driving towards Yerevan.
SarıkamışSarıkamış or Sarikamish (Zerqamîş, Սարիղամիշ) is a town in Kars Province in the Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey. It is the seat of Sarıkamış District. Its population is 15,260 (2022). The town is perhaps best known for being the site of the Battle of Sarikamish, one of the major battles of the Caucasus front of World War I. For most of the 19th century, Sarikamish was an insignificant settlement that was divided into two parts: upper Sarikamish and lower Sarikamish.
