NivellesNivelles (nivɛl; Nijvel, ˈnɛi̯vəl; Nivele; Neyvel) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the Belgian province of Walloon Brabant. The Nivelles municipality includes the former municipalities of Baulers, Bornival, Thines, and Monstreux. The Nivelles arrondissement includes all the municipalities in Walloon Brabant. The Collegiate Church of St. Gertrude has been classified as a heritage site of Wallonia. Starting in 4,000 BC, the Nivelles region was gradually turned into agricultural land by the Danubian settlers.

In common with all of Brussels' municipalities, it is legally bilingual (French–Dutch). the municipality had a population of 85,099 inhabitants.
De StandaardDe Standaard (meaning The Standard in English) is a Flemish daily newspaper published in Belgium by Mediahuis (formerly Corelio and VUM). It was traditionally a Christian-Democratic paper, associated with the Christian-Democratic and Flemish Party, and in opposition to the Socialist Flemish daily De Morgen. In recent years De Standaard has renounced its original ideological ties. In 1911, Frans Van Cauwelaert founded Ons Volk Ontwaakt, the weekly journal of the Flemish Catholic student organization.
