Leeds and Liverpool CanalThe Leeds and Liverpool Canal is a canal in Northern England, linking the cities of Leeds and Liverpool. Over a distance of , crossing the Pennines, and including 91 locks on the main line. The Leeds and Liverpool Canal has several small branches, and in the early 21st century a new link was constructed into the Liverpool docks system. In the mid-18th century the growing towns of Yorkshire, including Leeds, Wakefield and Bradford, were trading increasingly.
KirkleesKirklees is a metropolitan borough of West Yorkshire, England. The borough compromises of the eight towns of Batley, Birstall, Cleckheaton, Dewsbury, Heckmondwike, Holmfirth, Huddersfield, Mirfield and Slaithwaite. It is governed by Kirklees Council. Kirklees had a population of 422,500 in 2011; it is the third largest metropolitan district in England by area size, behind Doncaster and Leeds. The borough was formed on 1 April 1974 by the provisions of the Local Government Act 1972 as part of a reform of local government in England.

The parish includes the hamlet of Brunthwaite. Silsden was mentioned in the 1086 Domesday Book as "Siglesdene", and as the most important village in Craven. Generally an agricultural area, the Industrial Revolution had a significant impact on West Yorkshire, including Silsden.
CullingworthCullingworth is a village and civil parish in the City of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. Within the boundaries of the historic West Riding of Yorkshire, it is west of Bradford and south of Keighley. The surrounding countryside is mainly used for sheep and cattle farming, with areas of moorland lying to the north and west. The village has undergone expansion in recent years, including a new primary school and housing estates. Cullingworth is now a popular commuter settlement serving the nearby towns of Keighley, Bradford and Halifax.
AddinghamAddingham (formerly Haddincham 972, Odingehem 1086) is a village and civil parish in the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire, England. It is situated near the A65, south-east of Skipton, west of Ilkley, north-west of Bradford and around north-west of Leeds. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is located in the valley of the River Wharfe and is only from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The name is thought to mean "homestead associated with a man called Adda", although in the Domesday Book, the village was referred to as "Ediham", which may have referred to Earl Edwin of Bolton Abbey.
