Givisiez

Givisiez (ʒivizje; Gevesiér dzəvəˈʒi) is a municipality in the district of Sarine in the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland. It was formerly known in German as Siebenzach, but this usage is no longer common. Givisiez is first mentioned in 1142 as Juvinsie. Until the beginning of the 19th century it was known as Juvisy. Givisiez has an area, , of . Of this area, or 34.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 23.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, or 40.5% is settled (buildings or roads), or 0.6% is either rivers or lakes and or 1.2% is unproductive land. Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 10.7% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 11.6% and transportation infrastructure made up 12.7%.
