EE-584: Spacecraft design and system engineeringThe main objective of the course is to introduce the concept of space system design and engineering. The course will describe the various subsystems involved in the design of a satellite. It will also describe the techniques of systems engineering that are used to obtain a coherent satellite design.
CS-487: Industrial automationThis course consists of two parts:
- architecture of automation systems, hands-on lab
- handling of faults and failures in real-time systems, including fault-tolerant computing
EE-556: Mathematics of data: from theory to computationThis course provides an overview of key advances in continuous optimization and statistical analysis for machine learning. We review recent learning formulations and models as well as their guarantees, describe scalable solution techniques and algorithms, and illustrate the trade-offs involved.
EE-570: Power system restructuring and deregulationThis course presents different types and mechanisms of electricity markets. It addresses in particular their impacts on power/distribution systems operation and consequently the appropriate strategies capable to ensure a secure and reliable functioning.
MICRO-452: Basics of mobile roboticsThe course teaches the basics of autonomous mobile robots. Both hardware (energy, locomotion, sensors) and software (signal processing, control, localization, trajectory planning, high-level control) will be tackled. The students will apply the knowledge to program and control a real mobile robot.
ME-409: Energy conversion and renewable energyThis course presents an overview of (i) the current energy system and uses (ii) the main principles of conventional and renewable energy technologies and (iii) the most important parameters that define their efficiency, costs and environmental impacts.
