This lecture introduces an interdisciplinary workshop focusing on communication across different fields. Students will work in groups to synthesize a complex problem from texts in Industrial Engineering, Economics, Sociology, and Political Science. The workshop includes discussions on the benefits of interdisciplinary approaches, communication challenges, and integrating perspectives. Participants will analyze the impact of task computerization on the job market, discussing potential job loss and the creation of new roles. The workshop structure involves group formation, individual text reading, synthesis development, and a final discussion on interdisciplinary communication. Students will reflect on the workshop experience, considering the advantages and disadvantages of interdisciplinary approaches, familiarity with different disciplines, communication difficulties, successful discussion parts, and lessons learned for future interdisciplinary collaborations.
