This lecture covers ligand field theory, focusing on pi-acceptors and the electrochemical series. The slides illustrate molecular orbital diagrams, bonding in different complexes, and the spectrochemical series across 3-d series metals. Exercises are provided to draw ligand field splitting diagrams for various metal complexes.
