Deciphering Venetian Handwritings: Projects
This lecture covers various projects related to Venetian history and geography, such as deciphering Venetian handwritings from different centuries, analysing Austrian cadastral maps, geolocalising Venetian paintings and photos, and reconstructing Venice in 3D. Students will work on tasks like creating a Gazeeters based on Tassini's toponomastics, extracting and structuring indexes from Sanudo's diaries, and simulating Venice underwater. The projects involve developing models, analysing results, and creating interactive maps, with a focus on historical accuracy and geographical precision.
