This lecture discusses itinerant magnetism, focusing on the orbital contribution of itinerant electrons in the presence of a magnetic field. Topics include Landau levels, degeneracy, Landau diamagnetism, and the de Haas-van Alphen effect. The quantum Hall effect and Shubnikov-de Haas effect are also explored, along with high-accuracy determination of the fine-structure constant.
