This lecture explains the relationship between the energy of a photon and its wavelength, starting from Planck's formula and deriving a simple expression to calculate the energy in electron volts based on the wavelength in nanometers. It also demonstrates the practical application of this formula by determining the minimal wavelength of light needed to expose a photographic film made of silver bromide, which falls in the infrared part of the spectrum.
