This lecture covers the concepts of object-oriented programming and Java, with a focus on the differences between descriptive and prescriptive approaches in the first and second semesters. Students will learn about Java language elements, genericity, collections, inputs/outputs, and user interface management. The secondary goals include exploring the standard Java library and understanding the course goals and content. The lecture also discusses the project structure, evaluation criteria, and the importance of avoiding plagiarism.
