This lecture covers the fundamental concepts of diffusion, including its role in microfluidics and biosensors, the diffusion process from planar semi-infinite regions, and the self-diffusion of biological entities. It also discusses the diffusion coefficient, molecular weight relationship, diffusion distances, and the comparison of immunoassay formats for diffusion time. Furthermore, it explores the Peclet number, the effect of diffusion in parallel laminar flow, mixing devices such as multi-lamellar mixing and droplet mixing, and geometry-induced mixing techniques.
