This lecture discusses the development of photonic textiles for monitoring vital functions in newborn or preterm infants, aiming to provide continuous and non-invasive measurements of oxygen content in the blood to prevent long-lasting disabilities. The use of polymer optical fibers on textile pads allows for real-time monitoring, early identification of health risks, and rapid treatment, ultimately improving the quality of life of the population.
