Lecture

The short-time Fourier transform

Description

This lecture explains the concept of the short-time Fourier transform (STFT) using the example of dual-tone multi frequency dialing (DTMF) in analog telephones. It demonstrates how STFT allows for a time-frequency analysis of signals by breaking them into smaller segments and computing their Fourier transforms, enabling the identification of specific frequencies at different time intervals.
