This lecture covers the measurement of cardiac oxygen consumption, calculation of work and power in the left ventricle, the relationship between oxygen consumption and pressure, the tension time index, and the rate-pressure product. It also discusses the concept of ventricular and arterial elastance, optimal power output, and the 1D model of the arterial system, including equations and boundary conditions. The presentation concludes with examples of aortic stenosis, MRI modeling, and comparisons between model predictions and measurements of flow rate and pressure in various arteries.
