This lecture explores the concept of urban design in Seoul, focusing on integrating the existing hilly terrain into the architectural project. The design aims to recreate the original topography, incorporating sports fields and parking areas. The lecture emphasizes the unifying role of empty spaces, connecting various pavilions and creating a pedestrian-friendly environment with amenities like cafes, fitness centers, and libraries. The architectural design includes classrooms, theaters, chapels, and cultural spaces arranged around a central public area. The three-dimensional layout allows for vertical movement and underground connections to other buildings, including a large underground parking facility. The valley not only serves as a central hub for students but also functions logistically, with water reservoirs for typhoon emergencies and water recycling. Overall, the design promotes sustainability, daily usability, and connectivity between the campus and the surrounding city.
