This lecture covers the content of the universe, including tracers from a cosmology standpoint such as the distribution of galaxies, background radiation like the Cosmic Microwave Background, cluster of galaxies, large-scale structures like the cosmic web with filaments and voids, quasars, and the intergalactic medium. The discovery of the first quasar in 1963 and the identification of millions of quasars are discussed, along with their typical spectrum and the existence of supermassive black holes at the center of galaxies. The lecture also delves into the electromagnetic spectrum of quasars, their radio emissions, and infrared and optical properties.
