Description

This lecture explains two methods of generating neutrons: spallation and fission. In the spallation process, high energy protons hitting a target produce neutrons, while fission in a nuclear reactor involves inducing a split in a large core, leading to a chain reaction. Examples from PSI and Chernobyl are discussed.
